Connection Lamp

For my bachelors graduation project, I focused on the topic of compassionate technology for mental health, focusing on people with general anxiety disorder. The goal of the project was to develop a compassionate tool which could not only understand a user but also try to alleviate their pain. Thus the proposed design was the Connection Lamp.

The Connection Lamp is a lamp which aims to alleviate a person’s anxiety in two ways. Through human connection and breathing exercises. As the anxious individual picks up the lamp and gauges their anxiety level, this information will simultaneously be sent to their loved ones who could be located anywhere in the world, could gauge the anxious levels of the individual based on the color of the lamp. This forwarding of emotion is aimed at reducing the barrier and threshold for the anxious individual to ask for help.
